About

I’m Rob and I’m a Sr. Systems Engineer and a musician. I have 20 plus years experience with IT and I have been playing guitar since age 15. I have a deep passion about IT, music, and a love for the outdoors.

My IT life – Sr. Systems Engineer – My experience is both professional and hobby. Professionally I have dealt with most server systems, a huge chunk of network routing/switching systems, SAN/NAS systems, numerous different firewalls, almost every major wireless LAN vendor, scripting, and everything in between. Hobby wise I play with websites, emerging or one-off technologies (Raspberry Pi), and some coding. I also have a ridiculous lab that occupies a full rack in the house.

My music life – I have been playing guitar since I was 15 years old. I have played guitar and bass guitar and I am working on learning drums and piano. I started running sound at a church at 15 as well. I love every aspect of performing, from running sound or lights to being one of the performers. As far as a favorite genre, I am a metal head (think Metallica). My appreciations include rock, southern rock, classic rock, blues, jazz, classical, praise rock, and a little country. Music is a major part of my personal life.

My Outdoors Life – hunting, fishing, camping, climbing, scouts, conservation. I have been in the woods since I was a kid. My dad had me accompanying him on hunting and fishing trips since before I could shoot or cast. On all these trips he taught me about ethical hunting, game management, land conservation, and leave no trace. I also learned about many other activities that surround hunting and fishing, like camping, hiking, rock climbing and boating. I get to experience all these activities and more with my dad, and now my kids as well. I’m also very involved in Scouts BSA. The scouting program has been very beneficial to my youngest son and allows me to teach all these wonderful outdoor activities to other youth.
